Esurance Recognizes ‘#EqualDreams’ in Latest Spot by Leo Burnett Chicago
In celebration of LGBT Pride Week and in anticipation of the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage later this month, Esurance has launched an ad and social campaign called “#EqualDreams,” created by Leo Burnett Chicago.
The spot , filmed at a real wedding on June 13 in Chicago, centers around interviews with young children who were asked to describe their dream weddings. From volcanoes and apartment-sized donuts to snazzy outfits and lots and lots of puppies, the dreams they share have no boundaries. Esurance believes that in the modern world that same rule should apply to whom you’re marrying.
“Sometimes children can make complex issues so simple. They remind us what it’s like to have dreams,” said Brian Shembeda, EVP, creative director, Leo Burnett Chicago. “Their words, as heard in the video, help us understand why equality is important. Because all children deserve the same right to pursue their dreams.”
There’s a change of tone in the interviews when gay teens are asked about their dream weddings. The idealism of the children fades with the realism that it’s not as easy for same-sex couples.
While laws vary state by state and the Supreme Court ruling has not yet been made, Esurance extends the same insurance benefits to all couples no matter where they live and whom they love. The company hopes everyone will share this message and their own stories with #EqualDreams.
